The annual celebration of Muslims, Eid-ul-fitr, which comes right after holy month of Ramazan is just knocking at doors. Like every year, this year the vacation on account of Eid will be applied over all the public and government sector institutes.
But this year with having weekends and Eid holidays, Banks in Pakistan to remain close for 9 days in first 10 days of next month July.
This unexpected 9 days holidays comes as 1st July will be off due to banks 6-month closing and later will remain off due to weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
- 1st July: 6-Month closing of Banks
- 2nd and 3rd July: Weekend (Sat-Sun)
- 4th July: Bank will remain open
- 5th-8th July: Eid holidays (If Eid falls on 6th July, 2016 as expected)
- 9th and 10th July: Weekend (Sat-Sun)
However, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), through a latest circular, ordered all branches of commercial banks to remain open on July 2 and 9 (Saturdays).
“Commercial banks shall strictly ensure availability of ATM services round the clock. For early replenishment of cash at ATMs, banks shall make proper arrangements of currency stock at the respective ATM feeding branches”, the order stated.
“Further, banks shall make public the contact numbers of the focal person for quick redressal of all complaints relating to malfunctioning or shortage of currency notes in ATMs”, it added.
