9th November, Iqbal Day is celebrated with patriotic solemnity and full zeal countrywide. The day is the birth anniversary of one of the all time greatest poet of sub-continent, the day is marked as a public holiday and people countrywide pay homage to their national hero.

In an unprecedented move, last year federal government of Pakistan discarded Iqbal day as public day, but know once again upon Supreme Court’s decree Iqbal Day is being restored as the public holiday.

It will be pertinent to mention here that grandson of Alalma Iqbal, Waleed Iqbal filed the petition against government’s call regarding Iqbal Day. The decision finally reaffirms observation of Iqbal Day as public holiday across the country.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal played pivotal role in uprising Muslims of Sub-continent and showing them the right path, which led them to set a free state, where they can practice their religion as per their wishes.

Iqbal for his prestigious work in art and literature is regarded as ‘Shair-e-Mashriq’ (Poet of the East) and is also titled as ‘Mufakkir-e-Pakistan’ (The Thinker of Pakistan).
