Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators PSL 1st Playoff Highlights

Pakistan Super League’s debut edition is heading towards its end. As the 1st Playoff game was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on February 19.

The match was an epic contest between both the sides; many of the spectators were of the view that it was a match they have not ever thought about. The contest was full of dramas, twists and fighting spirits of cricketers which made a game highly complex which was once looking an one sided affair for the other side.

As we know that Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators were the top teams of PSL this edition and they ended the first round of PSL as toppers on the point table as both grabbed 6 wins out of 8 group matches, although Zalmis were  a tad ahead of them because of the Net run rate.

This nail-biting contest opened up as the ordinary game of cricket but it was an epic contest which got decided on the last ball of the match.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and opted to bowl first, the decision looked quite favorable as they manged to rid off the openers early on, but later two big-wigs of the cricket Kumar Sangakkara and Kevin Pietersen build up tremendous innings.

While both these stars got settled on the crease it was looking easy for Gladiators to setup of 160+ total, but after their departure Zalmis crushed Gladiators falling them all out on 133 in 19.3 overs.

Zalmis while chasing this total, walked steadily but with brilliant bowling of Anwar Ali and Muhammad Nawaz Gladiators were able to give them a tough time.

In the later part, Sammy and Afridi added some crucial runs but they departed at the time when they were most needed. Wahab Riaz also added some crucial runs , which were even not enough to get a win. Finally, Quetta Gladiators were able to beat Peshawar Zalmi by 1 run.

PSL is moving towards its climax, I mean heading towards its Semis, so far three top three teams have qualified for the next round, although there is a tough race for Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars, out of which one time will be joining the other teams for the Semi final matches.

With all such burden on head, the PSL atmosphere has rose up high, and this all is causing clashes between players, although some are answering it by smashing a ball hard with bat or some with a full speed bouncer. But that is the part of the game as aggression in sportsman is necessary as sugar in a cake.

From last several days clash between Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shahzad was in the headlines, we have brought you another clash between players during live PSL match but this was not an intentional clash as batsman and bowler collided while bowler was appealing for a LBW out.

Ahmed Shehzad wishes Wahab Riaz good luck ahead of Asia Cup

After being heavily fined for PCB, the star cricketers might have learned the lesson of how to react righteously in the gentlemen’s game. Although, sledging or clashes are nothing new to cricket but getting physical on the field happens rarely. The incident made headlines around the globe and both the players Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shehzad were mocked for their unprofessional attitude.

The match referee Roshan Mahnama going into the matter fined Ahmed Shehzad 30% of his match fees and Wahab Riaz of 40% of his match fees due to scuffle on the field during a live match.

Over this, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also asked both the star cricketers to behave well as such incidents hamper image of Pakistan cricket as millions are watching PSL.

Later, both the cricketers felt wrong about the on-field altercation an tried to crush it off saying that it shouldn’t have happened as it was directly damaging the beauty of cricket.

Wahab Riaz, while talking to a private media channel agreed that what happened in between him and Shehzad was wrong. Further he was of the opinion that youngsters should not inspire such incidents.

On the other hand, Ahmed Shehzad, who was ruled out of Asia Cup and World T20 leaving away the hardships or altercation with Wahab Riaz, have wished the best of luck to the left arm fast bolwer ahead of Asia Cup.

Although, still now the main reason behind this scuffle wasn’t none as Wahab claimed that it was his reaction over some incident which he didn’t elaborated.

Here it should be mentioned, that there might be some clash between the cricketers even before the incident as Shehzad was playing steadily as he scored 15 runs on 15 balls before Riaz came in attack and  as just Wahab bowled his first ball Shehzad  attacked him vigorously, earning a six on his first ball. On the second delivery of Riaz’s over, Shehzad also tried to throw the ball in stands but this time he was unlucky as left arm fast bowler improvised a slower delivery to knock the stumps of the opener batsman.

Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators 14 Feb Highlights- PSL (Pakistan Super League)

The 17th match of Pakistan Super League between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators was today played at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sharjah.

PSL is now heading towards the playoff, and with every passing game the excitement is being added to the Pakistan’s very first International cricket league. The league which took off on February 4 showcases star cricketers from around the globe and is similarly fascinating as other successful leagues or cricketing events around the globe are.

This game was a crucial one as Zalmis were having the chance to top the points table after defeating the Gladiators, and they equally availed this chance as their skipper Shahid Afridi crushed the Quetta Gladiators with his superb bowling.

Boom Boom Shahid Afridi, this time with ball made the difference as he took 5 wickets just after giving 7 runs in 4 overs, marking this as his best T20 figures so far.

Gladiators won the toss and opened up their innings well as openers Ahmed Shehzad and Asad Shafiq played aggressive cricket but later on Wahab Riaz came into attack and took two wickets in his first over.

Later, Afridi’s magnificent spell restricted QG to a low total of 129.

PZ while chasing such an easy total just lost two wickets and comfortably chased the total with still having 8 wickets in hands.

Ahmed Shehzad vs Wahab Riaz intense fight live in PSL match (video)

It is well known that win or lose is part of the game, but the fights or intense sledging ruins the entire beauty of the game. And when its about gentlemen’s game any kind of misbehavior can’t be afforded.

But here we have such an event which might be spoiling the calmness in the gentleman’s game, and this condemnable event has taken in our very own cricket league PSL, where two of the national cricketers got into a quarrel and further got physical with each other, although right after watching such misery in ground the teams mates ran in and took both the players aside.

Both these players were none other than the two premium faces of Pakistan cricket, Wahab Riaz and Ahmed Shehzad, who have been enthusiastic over the years and have made Pakistan stand victorious with their well celebrated and oozing talent.

But this incident which happened during a live PSL match was quite different from the previously happened as in this two stars playing for different sides shared harsh words with each other and even got physical with each other.

The incident took placeD during 17th match of PSL between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. Here it should be kept mentioned that Wahab Riaz is part of Zalmis, whereas Ahmed Shehzad is the opener batsman of Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to bat first, the openers  of QG opened their wings early on in the overs and started attacking Zalmis. Wahab Riaz came into attack in the 4th over and very early on he was thrown out for a six by the QG opener Ahmed Shehzad. Later, the left arm fast bowler came over the wicket and on the very next delivery bowled the opener batsman.

After all this drama, the fast bowler showed his aggression, in reply to it Shehzad moved the bat and both the stars got physical.

PSL 2016 Tickets: Shahid Afridi announces ‘No ticket fee’ for Peshawar Zalmi shirt wearers

Finally PSL‘s wait is no more days from the Pakistanis, as it is now just hours away when the history will be created by commencing the first international cricket league of Pakistan , Pakistan Super League.

All the teams have already arrived on the venues and yesterday the event of trophy launching has also taken place in Dubai. The best thing about this cricketing event is that whole of the nation is cheering for the superstars of the most liked game of Pakistan.

The other thing which makes it more fascinating is the surprises and additions, as it all started with a slow pace and now they have got all the stakeholder on the board, from the sponsors to Tv channels of Pakistan, everyone is in full swing to support their team whole heartedly but at the same time the cricket fans are rejoiced to have such a huge cricket event by Pakistan and are not concerned about whoever wins the trophy as they collectively think that at the end of the day it will be a big positive point for Pakistan’s cricket.

Amid all this we have got another big surprise right from Dubai trophy unveiling ceremony of PSL, as skipper of Peshawar Zalmi Shahid Afridi after the end of the ceremony while addressing to the media announced that the entrance in PSL match will be free for those who will be wearing a Peshwar Zalmi shirt, he added that the ticket fare will be paid by the owner of Peshawar Zalmi.

Zalmis, have been phenomenal since they kicked off their promotional activities and this later addition works as icing on the cake.

The captain of PZ also looked quite confident about a trophy win and at the same time he also invited the spectators to come and support PSL in Dubai.

PSL 2016: Islamabad United launch event to be held on 30th Jan 2016

The Team Misbah led Islamabad United looks quite promising to grab the first PSL trophy, this is not because of some T20 guns the side IS studded with, it is all because of the captain himself. To explain what he really means to the Pakistani cricket, the point will be enough that he is often called ‘Wall of China’ or the phrase ‘One Man Army’ also explicates Misbah’s brilliance.

Other than Misbah the side also posses some T20 Giants, we can’t underrate them, although when its about reliability than no one can compete captain Misbah.

As you have heard it many times before, PSL is commencing from February 4 in UAE. 5 teams will be in run to win the title, and all the sides are well balanced and can stun each other at any part of the game.

Beside the cricketing arena, the promotional activities and launching events are also a treat for the masses. Like all other teams, IU’s official are also showing their presence on the social media. They are also up with the attractive prizes and few days back they have launched an offer to win trip to the opening ceremony of PSL.

The thing which people were waiting from a long time was when ISB united will be holding their launching ceremony, as many of the other sides have done it earlier.

Here it should be mentioned that at first the United’s launch event was scheduled to be held on 23rd Jan, 2016 but after the Charsadda Terrorist Attack, they postponed it without telling the next date.

And up the latest, United’s have officially told about the launching event. But still many details to come.
